At Wolverine Arms, we regularly receive firearms from customers all over the country for machining, engraving, Cerakote, plating, and other custom work. Shipping a firearm to us — and having it returned directly to you — is completely legal when ownership is not changing.

To make the process smooth, fast, and hassle-free, please follow the instructions below carefully.

Who Can Ship to Wolverine Arms

You may ship a firearm to Wolverine Arms if:

You are the lawful owner of the firearm The firearm is being sent for gunsmithing, customization, or manufacturing work The firearm will be returned directly to you after completion (no transfer of ownership)

Because Wolverine Arms is a federally licensed manufacturer (07 FFL), no FFL transfer is required on your end when the firearm is being returned to you.

UPS is our preferred shipping method.

We strongly recommend using UPS over other carriers whenever possible.

How to Prepare Your Firearm for Shipping

Before going to the shipping counter, make sure your firearm is:

Completely unloaded Remove all ammunition Remove magazines Double-check chamber and magwell Properly packaged Place the firearm in a padded case, hard case, or wrap securely with foam/bubble wrap Place that case inside a plain, unmarked cardboard box Use sufficient padding so nothing moves inside the box No markings on the outside Do not label the box as a firearm Do not use manufacturer logos or firearm-related markings Include your information inside the box Please include a printed note with: Full name Phone number Email address Return shipping address Description of the work being performed

This ensures there are no delays once your firearm arrives.

Declaring the Shipment (Important)

Federal law does not require firearm shipments to be labeled on the outside of the package.

Do not mark the box as containing a firearm Do not add firearm-related notes to the shipping label

If a carrier employee asks what the package contains, you must answer truthfully and in accordance with the carrier’s policies. There is no requirement to volunteer additional details beyond what is asked, and unnecessary labeling can lead to delays, extra fees, or theft risk.

Wolverine Arms complies fully with all ATF regulations, and firearms shipped to us for work are lawfully received and returned to the original owner.
